Greetings golfers,

Great to see the best golfers in the ladies game make it to the Olympics and once again we were treated to some amazing golf, team GB should be immensely proud of what was an incredible 16 days and I for one never knew I could get that excited over watching a bicycle go round a track.


 

Congratulations to the scratch team for winning the teams challenge on another windy Sunday, the Captain and Pro won another match on Saturday 6&5 against Jordan and Gerry Williams. Currently we're still unbeaten…….how long can this continue……??


 

Congratulations to Curtis Griffiths a student of mine for the last year, last week he won the Europro tour event at East Sussex National with rounds of 70, 65 & 70 and then successfully won in a playoff (some examples of the swing changes attached old on the left new on the right) this takes him to 4th on the order of merit with the top 5 gaining Challenge tour cards for next year, so fingers crossed for a strong finish to the year.

A Date For Your Diary

With the Olympic golf behind us, our attention now turns to the Ryder Cup. Before that first tee shot on September 30, however, come the wild card selections on August 30. This is when Darren Clarke will name his three players who will join those who have already qualified (see below). 

So, how is Team Europe shaping up? The following names are guaranteed their spot on the plane to Minnesota: 

Rory McIlroy, Danny Willett, Henrik Stenson, Chris Wood, Sergio Garcia, Justin Rose, Rafael Cabrera-Bello, Andy Sullivan and Matt Fitzpatrick. 

Yes, some big names are set to miss out! However, the favourites for the wild card spots are Lee Westwood, Martin Kaymer and Russell Knox. You have to say, it's a strong side given the likes of Graeme McDowell, Luke Donald and Shane Lowry are looking like missing out… maybe. 

As the saying goes, 'One man's loss is another man's gain'. Fitzpatrick qualified at the weekend and his reaction was superb - well done that man.
