Free No Obligation Fittings At Goring

We are often surprised by just how many of our members, visitors, and readers don't know that we offer no obligation FREE fittings to members at Goring, using the most advanced Launch Monitor available to date - TrackMan 4.

To put it simply, we use the same technology that a Tour Van would use in its fittings, TrackMan 4, to measure every parameter possible of your swing and flight data. This, combined with our training and experience as PGA qualified professionals, means that we can identify the perfect club head and shaft for your individual game.

If you've never been fit before you will almost certainly gain yardage and increase your accuracy; a 20 yard gain in distance and a 50% reduction in dispersion is not an uncommon result of properly fitted clubs Vs Off the shelf.

We offer the following fitting services for FREE to all our members:

  • Iron, Driver, Wedge, Putter & Full Bag fittings
  • Gapping - making sure you have a consistent distance gap between each club in the bag - if you have too big a gap between clubs means that you either have to hit a club far too soft or far too hard from certain distances, having a gap too small means that you have one or more, essentially, useless clubs - you need to make full use of every club in your bag.

Don't put yourself at a disadvantage

We always encourage the golfers we teach to get out on the practice ground between lessons. It’s through this repetition that swing changes start to feel more natural so the pupil can then hit the course full of confidence. We love good habits like this, but there is one habit we see all the time that we certainly don’t recommend…

NOTICE THE DIFFERENCE?

It’s not uncommon for us to see members playing a scuffed ball, using it until it eventually gets lost. But ball damage, such as worn dimples or surface cuts, can alter the airflow over your ball, making your trajectory more erratic and causing wayward shots and shorter carries.

You might think this would have minimal effect versus and unblemished ball, but a mark across just a few dimples can make 10 yards difference to a shot, as we’ve demonstrated in the illustration here.

IT'S AN EASY CHOICE

You have the ability to ensure your ball is the same on every hole, which is why we recommend finding one you like and sticking to it to improve your consistency.

One to definitely try is the Mizuno MP-S, which has a tacky urethane cover that increases feel and spin control. Its high-tech dimple pattern also creates a stronger trajectory into the wind.

Get more bang for your buck

We’re well into summer now, which means we’re likely to see the sun shining (fingers crossed). While we’re all happy to wear sunglasses to see better in the car, we know many of you don’t trust them to not fall off mid-swing when playing golf, but that needn’t be an issue.
