Proving his credentials... Xander Schauffele showed U.S. Ryder Cup captain Jim Furyk exactly what he was missing at Le Golf National, as he pulled off a stunning play-off victory at the WGC-HSBC Champions in Shanghai.
Schauffele clawed back a three-shot deficit to fellow American Tony Finau, making birdies on the final two holes to force a play-off, before making another birdie at the first sudden-death hole to win his third PGA title. Schauffele was named 'Rookie of the Year' in the 2016-17 season, and is proving his credentials once again this year, despite switching equipment manufacturers at the start of the season. Ben goes low!
Last Tuesday the final event on the BB&O PGA's schedule took place at Caversham Heath and the Autumn Classic. On the day Ben fired a low round 67 to win the event. His round included 5 birdies, 1 eagle and 1 bogey, meaning his 5 under par round was low enough to win by a shot.
Well done Ben!

Preferred lies Now that the clocks have gone back and we find ourselves edging towards winter, many golf courses will now have introduced a Local Rule for 'Preferred Lies'. When this is in force, it allows you to mark, clean (especially important if your ball is covered in mud like in this photo) and place your ball within six inches of where it has come to rest, providing it was on a closely mown area - i.e. the fairway. If you're unsure on this or any other rule, please come and speak to a member of the pro shop team. |
